Topic: Booting an existing Linux software

So I got a shiny new Proliant Microserver, which I wanted to move my existing Linux install to free up the box it's in.The OS is installed with mdraid on a two-drive RAID1 system. I've moved the hard drives to the Proliant but switching between the different controller options (HW Raid, AHCI, Legacy SATA) does not boot the system. The drives are recognized, but the system won't boot. Was this a terrible idea that won't ever work? Simple idiotic PEBCAK? Ideas?I'm preparing an USB rescue drive to look around as we speak... just wanted to drop here quickly in case I'm missing something trivial.

Please help.

I did not find the right solution from the internet.
